About Sherry Hour

A common tradition among liberal arts colleges, a “sherry hour” is historically a small gathering of students, professors, and alumni over a glass of sherry.  The Sherry Hour Committee aims to foster a sense of community between Barnard College and Columbia University by resurrecting this old tradition which provides the opportunity for members of our community to enjoy a nice evening together.

All currently enrolled Barnard students are welcome to RSVP for the event, however she is required to bring one guest affiliated with the greater Columbia University community (i.e. another student, professor, or alum). We highly recommend that if she chooses to invite a student that they do not attend Barnard College. The event is similar to a cocktail party; wear is semi-formal and food and drinks will be served. The event is hosted by the Office of President Spar and the Barnard Sherry Hour Committee. You must present appropriate identification to be served alcohol.

We look forward to seeing you all there!
